![]() "He spoke a word to the millstones. They flew up in the air and flung themselves down upon the gentleman. He spoke to the boulders and rocks; they did the same. The gentleman was old beyong telling, and very strong. Long after his bones and flash must have been crushed to pieces, Stephen culd feel whatever was left of him struggling to bind itself back together by magic. So Stephen spoke softly to the stony shoudlers of the dale and asked them to help him. Earth and rock crumbled; it heaped itself on top of the millstones and the rocks until there was a hill standing there was high as the sides of the dale..." It is December of 1817 and ten months have passed since the defeat of the gentleman with the thistle-down hair and return of magic to England. Since this time, England and Faerie have become very changed places. Magic now runs freely throughout England and from it a number of magacians have emerged to study the Book of Magic, serve their country in the army, and wherever else magacians might be needed. The men responsible for this, however, have not been seen since the occurance. In Faerie, meanwhile, the kingdom of Lost Hope has flourished under the rule of Stephen Black and expanded to include several smaller kingdoms such as Plucked Eye and Heart, releasing those under their enchantment. However, what Stephen Black and the two magicians have accomplished could be all be undone by the disturbance of a certain dale near Starecross. |
